Give a rough idea of size. Is the product to be handheld, benchtop, rackmount, wall cabinet etc

Does your product require connection to a PC? is custom PC software required?

How will the user interact with your device? This covers inputs (buttons, touchscreen etc) and outputs (screen, indicator LEDs etc)

Excluding the power supply, what other connections will your product have? Communications such as USB, Ethernet, RS232? High current MOSFET or relay outputs? Digital or analogue in?

Will the product contain any radio transmitters or receivers? This includes WiFi, Cellular, GPS etc

What will power your device? If using batteries will they be rechargeable?

What temperature range will your product operate in? What IP rating do you require? Will moisture or humidity be a concern?

Indicate an approximate expected budget and timescale.

If you plan on selling your product it will likely need certification of some kind. CE in Europe, UKCA in the United Kingdom, FCC in the USA etc
